Management team
Chempilots’ management team is made up of dynamic individuals who combine strong scientific and technical backgrounds with solid business know-how and practical experience.

Richard Schmidt
Chief Executive Officer
Richard has more than 25 years of experience in the full spectrum of R&D and project management from world class companies and joined Chempilots in 1996. Here he has lead several customer assignments involving formulation and process engineering for a variety of medical applications including soft tissue implantation and pharmaceutical excipients and APIs. Many projects have involved implementation of pilot production under GMP.
Richard holds a BEng and a MSc ChE specialized in polymer chemistry from the Technical University of Denmark, and a BCom degree in organization and strategy from Copenhagen Business School. Besides his CEO position Richard also is QEHS Management Executive and contributes to project solutions.

Kim Sander Pedersen
Project Director
Kim Sander has been with Chempilots since 2005. He has more than 10 years of experience in the medical device industry. He has held various project management and general management positions within R&D, including continence devices, ostomy devices, and electrodes.
Kim Sander holds a MSc in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark and has attended project and general management courses at Coloplast A/S and Ambu A/S.
His special competences include: soft contact lens materials and processing, hydrophilic coatings, skin-friendly adhesives, neurology electrodes, design for validation, and project and risk management in medical device industry.

Christian Elbek
Project Director and
Sales & Marketing Management Executive
Christian joined Chempilots in 1993 and has 17 years of experience as a project leader of R&D projects and in-house productions. Over the years, his development projects have spanned a wide range of product, process, manufacturing, and QA issues.
Christian has a Msc in chemistry and computer science from the University of Copenhagen and also has an MBA from TEM at the Danish Technical University.
His special competences include: polymer science, product and process development, and creative problem-solving.
