The Chempilots management team is made up of dynamic individuals who combine strong scientific backgrounds with solid business know-how and practical experience.
Torben Jung Laursen
CEO
Torben joined Chempilots January 2010. He has more than 20 years of experience from the life science industry in Denmark and internationally in companies as Novo Nordisk, Roche and Alpharma (Axellia). Torben has a MSc from The Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University in Denmark and a degree in economics from University of Reading in the UK.
Kim Sander Pedersen
Project Director
Kim Sander has been with Chempilots since 2005. He has more than 10 years of experience in the medical device industry. He has held various project management and general management positions within R&D, including continence devices, ostomy devices, and electrodes.
Kim Sander holds a MSc in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark and has attended project and general management courses at Coloplast A/S and Ambu A/S.
His special competences include: soft contact lens materials and processing, hydrophilic coatings, skin-friendly adhesives, neurology electrodes, design for validation, and project and risk management in medical device industry.
Christian Elbek
Project Director and
Sales & Marketing Management Executive
Christian joined Chempilots in 1993 and has 16 years of experience as a project leader of R&D projects and in-house productions. Over the years, his development projects have spanned a wide range of product, process, manufacturing, and QA issues.
Christian has a Msc in chemistry and computer science from the University of Copenhagen and also has an MBA from TEM at the Danish Technical University.
His special competences include: polymer science, product and process development, and creative problem-solving.
Richard Schmidt
Project Director and
Quality Management Executive
Richard brought more than 20 years of experience in project and R&D management to Chempilots when he joined back in 1996. Richard started in Hempel Corporate R&D as toxicology advisor in coatings formulation, and then joined Coloplast as a specialist in skin adhesives and Project Leader for new wound care products and new business development. Richard also held a position as Engineering Manager in the Danish affiliate of Boston Scientific Corp. with responsibilities within technology research, less-invasive products development, and GMP production engineering.
Richard has a MSc in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark, where he specialized in polymer chemistry. He also has a BCom in Organization and Strategic Management from the Copenhagen Business School.
His special competences include: coatings and adhesives, medical device technologies, biocompatible materials, quality systems, design for validation, and regulatory purposes, GMP.
