About us

Chempilots was founded in Denmark in 1957 as an industrial consulting company. Today, we have 35 dedicated employees and an annual turnover of roughly USD 8 million. We are proud of the fact that we have been consistently profitable throughout our 50-year history.

Pioneers in applied polymer chemistry 
Applied polymer chemistry has always been one of the company’s key competences. In fact, when the company started, very few had explored this field. This unique ability attracted a broad range of customers - from small, start-up companies to major international corporations with a need for specialized polymers. Examples of this early work include the production of fiber materials from foils, process development and production of expandable polystyrene, and development of industrial adhesives and coatings.

Focus on medical device and pharmaceutical industry needs
Over the years, the company’s focus has gradually shifted from more general industrial customers to regulated industries such as medical devices and pharmaceutical industry. Today we serve customers throughout Europe and North America.

Intellectual property rights
We have always recognized the importance of intellectual property rights. Today, more than 100 international patents list Chempilots staff as inventors or contributors on patents owned by our customers.

From idea to finished product
Our work spans the entire range of activities - from idea to product to manufacturing. A key reason for our ongoing success has been our ability to effectively solve complex problems throughout each phase of product development, including up-scaling and production optimization. 

Typically, we have up to 10 projects running concurrently. Some are completed within just a few weeks; others represent decades-long partnerships with key customers.

Facilities
Since the early 1960s, Chempilots has been headquartered in Farum, Denmark, a town about 20 kilometers north of the Danish capital, Copenhagen.

Our premises have been regularly expanded and improved. Because of our convenient suburban location, it has been possible for us to grow in step with the increasing and changing demand from our customers.

Our first clean room operation was established in the early 1990s and expanded to the present 200 m² (2,150 ft²) during the period up to now.

Our current research facility is 5,000 m² (53,000 ft²). This includes laboratories, clean room facilities, and a small-scale polymer manufacturing plant.
